Lehigh County - Washington Twp. - Working Garage Fire - 7/7/2010 : Around 17:30 hours on Monday, units were dispatched to Old Post Road in Washington Township for a garage fire. While enroute, units were advised by 9 Command that smoke was showing from Side A. Engine 912 arrived on the scene and began going to work. Two lines were stretched and the fire was quickly brought under control.

Chief 2601 arrived on the scene to find a working trailer fire off of Pope Road. Lehigh County - N. Whitehall Twp. - MVA w/ confinement - 8/7/2010 : Units dispatched around 5:30PM to the intersection of Bellview Road & Cobbler Road in North Whitehall Township for a MVA with rollover. Additional reports stated one person was still in the overturned vehicle. Chief 1601 assumed command and requested Schnecksville Rescue 2241 to respond due to confinement. Engine 1611 arrived on the scene and stabilized the vehicle. With the help of the 67 EMS crew, the Neffs personnel were able to free the driver and help immobilize the patient. The patient was extricated from the vehicle and Rescue 2241 was cancelled prior to arrival. Video can be found at youtube.com/jck5055

Lehigh County - Washington Twp. - Dwelling Fire - 8/21/2010 : Just before 9PM Lehigh County dispatched units from Stations 6, 9, 16 and 23 to 4381 Hilldale Road in Washington Township for a reported dwelling fire. 603 was the first officer on the air. LCCC reported the caller stated there was smoke coming from the basement. 603 arrived on the scene to find a working fire with smoke showing from the first floor. Engine 912 arrived on scene shortly after and stretched a line to the basement to the rear of the dwelling. Tower 1631 arrived next and stretched a second line in through the front door. Tanker 621 arrived and supplied Engine 912. Tankers from Slatedale (23) and Neffs (16) responded along with Tanker 921, Engine 1611, Tanker 1621, Squad 1651 and Engine 2311. Schuylkill County - East Union Twp. - MVA w/ injury and flyout - 8/22/2010 : Just before 7:30PM, Schuylkill County dispatched Fire District 9 (Sheppton - Oneida) and Shenandoah ALS to the Phineyville Road in the area of Phineyville Heights for a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Aristes Captain 352 was in the area and arrived first to find a single vehicle accident, passenger car versus utility pole with multiple injuries. Squirt 9-20 arrived shortly after and Chief 9-08 assumed EUT Command. Crews triaged a total of five patients and found one to be critical and four minor injuries. Medic 6404 and Medic 6401 arrived and began packaging the patients. The decision was made to transport the critical patient to a trauma center via aeromedical. Medic 6402 transported the patient to EUT Landing Zone 7 at the intersection of Phineyville Road and Girard Manor. The landing zone was established by Engine 9-10. Geisinger LifeFlight 5 landed safely and the patient was loaded into the helicopter. Medic 6401 transported three patients to a local hospital. East Union PD Unit 68 also transported the driver to a local facility for further evaluation. Chief 9-08 terminated command at 7:04PM.

Schuylkill County - Mahanoy City - Reported House Fire - 8/29/2010 : At 16:31 hours, Schuylkill County dispatched the Mahanoy City Fire Department to 900 East Pine Street in the borough for a reported house fire. Crews were also notified by a pulled box alarm on the street. EMS Chief 48 arrived on scene immediately after dispatch and confirmed an oil burner malfunction. West End Engine 465 and Tower 456 arrived and began investigating. Crews set up ventilation and ensured no fire was present. Units cleared the scene within 30 minutes.

Lehigh County - N Whitehall Twp. - Truck into building 9/1/2010 : Around 1300 hours Lehigh County Stations 22 and 67 were dispatched to the Sand Spring Apartments on Park View Drive in North Whitehall Township for a motor vehicle accident. Chief 2202 went responding and was advised of a truck into a building. Chief 2202 arrived on the scene to find a truck into side A of a two story multi-family dwelling. Command advised there was no entrapment but requested a rescue due to structural damage of the building. Schnecksville Rescue 2241 arrived on the scene and began securing the roof over the doors to the building. Bystanders on scene stated the truck was parked across the street at a stone facility when it began moving on its own across the street, over the curb and eventually into the building. Due to the nature of the incident, command requested an engine to respond to the scene to provide fire protection. Neffs Engine 1611 responded to the scene. Crews remained on scene for almost two hours while the truck was removed. Schnecksville Special Service 2252 and Neffs Utility 1651 assisted on the scene as well as the Pennsylvania State Police. Lehigh County - N. Whitehall Twp. - Vehicle Fire - 9/2/2010 : Around 20:00 hours Lehigh County dispatched Stations 12 (Laury's Station) and 16 (Neffs) along with an engine out of Northampton County to 2120 Clearview Road in North Whitehall Township for a vehicle fire. Additional information was quickly given of an off-duty State Trooper on the scene reporting a working fire. Chief 1601 arrived and transmitted a working fire finding a fully involved SUV. Chief 1201 arrived and established Laury's Command. Engine 1211 was first on scene and stretched a hand line to initiate the fire attack. Engine 1611 followed shortly after and stretched a second line. As crews were attacking the fire they were faced with a large amount of fuel in the vehicle and flowing down the street. Every time the fire appeared to be knocked down it would quickly flare up. Crews used multiple extinguishers as well to aid in extinguishment. Due to the amount of water being used, Tanker 1611 responded and fed Engine 1611. The decision was then made to use foam and the fire was quickly darkened for the final time approximately twenty five minutes into the incident. Command requested the North Whitehall Spill Containment Unit 2692 from Tri-Clover due to the large amount of gasoline flowing down the hill. Efforts were made to control the fuel. EMS station 67 was also requested to the scene for a standby. All units were placed available at 21:41 hours. Videos from this incident can be found at youtube.com/jck5055

Lehigh County - N. Whitehall Twp, - Working Dwelling Fire - 9/4/2010 : At 12:11 hours, Lehigh County dispatched Stations 22 (Shcnecksville) and 16 (Neffs) to 4672 Penn Hill Drive, North Whitehall Township for a reported house fire. Chief 2201 went responding and was advised the caller stated the kitchen was on fire and there were smoke and flames everywhere. Chief 2201 arrived on scene to find a bi-level single family dwelling with smoke showing. Confirming the working fire, Chief 2201 requested a second alarm and established Penn Hill Drive command. Truck 1631 was the first arriving unit followed by Engine 1611 and Tanker 1621. An attack line was stretched from the tower and the engine. Crews made entry and were confronted with fire conditions soon after entering the front door. A quick knockdown and was made and ventilation was initiated. Ladders were thrown to the front and rear of the structure. Tanker 2221 arrived and supplied Engine 1611. Two dogs were rescued from the house and returned to the owner. Both dogs appeared to be in good condition. Engine 2611 arrived on the scene and sent their crew to staging in front of the building. Overhaul was completed and all crews were placed available at 13:45 hours. EMS from Station 67 provided rehab at the scene.

Lehigh County - Lower Macungie Twp. - Commercial Fire - 9/12/2010 : Around 13:15 hours Lehigh County dispatched Station 30 along with Engine 1511 and 1512 to the Weis Market on Rt. 100 in Lower Macungie Township for a commercial structure fire. Chief 1501 arrived on scene immediately after dispatch reporting heavy black smoke from the building. Engine 1512 was the first engine on scene and was directed to the rear of the building and to pull a pre-connect. Chief 3001 arrived on the scene and assumed Rt. 100 command. The fire was found the be pallets burning at the rear of the building. The fire was knocked down within 20 minutes and crews checked for extension. Since the building was charged with smoke, command requested Ladder 731 out of Emmaus to respond. Crews began clearing the scene around 14:15 hours.

Chief 2201 signed on and given a report of one female trapped in the vehicle. 2201 arrived on the scene and requested additional fire police out of 26. Chief 2202 responded with Rescue 2241 and requested an engine of out 26 be dispatched as well. 2201 reported no entrapment. 2611 was recalled. Lehigh County - N. Whitehall Twp. - Animal Rescue - 10/8/2010 : Station 22 dispatched around 0900 to the intersection of SR309 and SR873 for an animal rescue. Additional given that a dog appeared to have fallen out of a window and was now stuck on a roof. Chief 2203 arrived and confirmed a dog on the roof and requested Tower 1631. "Patches" jumped out of the third story window out onto the porch roof while her owners weren't home. Tower 1631 and Rescue 2241 arrived, threw two ladders and got the pooch down unharmed. Box available at 0925.

Lehigh County - Weisenberg Twp. - Dwelling Fire - 10/10/2010 : At 1740 hours, Lehigh County dispatched stations 8, 25, 26 and 51 to 2391 Hailey Court in Weisenberg Township for a vehicle fire in an attached garage. Chief 802 radioed shortly after dispatch that he could see smoke from a distance. Chief 5101 arrived on the scene confirming a working fire and established Hailey Command at 1747 hours. Command requested a second alarm be dispatched bringing in Truck 831, Engine 1012, Tanker 1021, Tanker 1721, Attack 1771, Tanker 2221, Engine 2611 and RIT from Station 1. Engine 811 was the first engine on scene and tagged a hydrant across the street from the residence and stretched a line to the “D” side of the structure. Truck 831 arrived and backed into the driveway and setup for aerial operations. The truck crew began removing the garage doors while the engine company extinguished the fire. Truck 5131 arrived and stretched a 2.5 inch line to the rear. Further arriving companies sent their manpower to the front of the structure to assist interior crews. The fire was knocked down quickly and positive pressure ventilation was set up. At this time, command ordered all units not on scene to proceed with caution. Crews remained performing overhaul and checking for hotspots well into the evening. No injuries were noted. Video at youtube.com/jck5055

Lehigh County - S. Whitehall Twp. - Dwelling Fire - 10/11/2010 : After 1500 hours, Stations 3, 11 and 32 were dispatched to 2901 Reading Road in South Whitehall Township for a dwelling fire. Reports were received of smoke coming from the front door and no one was home. Chief 3201 and Fire Marshal 3 were responding and advised that police were on scene with a working fire. Chief 3201 arrived on scene and confirmed the working fire and requested a second alarm be struck. The remainders of 11, 32, Station 31 and RIT from Station 7 were dispatched on the second alarm. Truck 331 was the first unit on scene and began an aggressive fire attack. Engine 1112 arrived along with 3212 arrived and assisted with suppression. Truck 3131 arrived on scene and took side A of the structure. A crew was sent to the roof to perform vertical ventilation. The remaining crews assisted with overhaul and finding hot spots. Crews remained on scene into the evening hours. Apparatus from Stations 26, 30 and 36 were sent to the Souht Whitehall Stations for standby during the incident. Video is on youtube.com/jck5055

Lehigh County - N Whitehall Twp. - MVA w/ rescue - 10/23/2010 : Around 1900 hours Stations 22 (NWT Rescue), 26 and 67 were dispatched to Mauch Chunk Road and Quarry Road, North Whitehall Township for a motor vehicle accident with rescue. 6792 went responding and was advised of a two vehicle accident, one vehicle rolled over with two people trapped. County reported another patient as well. Station 67 second unit and Station 62 were added. 6792 arrived to find two people still inside the vehicle with gasoline leaking on the patients and requested the rescue to expedite. Rescue 2241 arrived on the scene and set up for rescue operations. Both patients were extricated without the use of hydraulics. Lehigh County - Coplay Borough - WSF 2 Alarm - 11/7/2010 : LEHIGH COUNTY, PA - At 18:28 hours on Sunday, November 7, Lehigh County Radio dispatched Coplay Station 5 along with Whitehall Fire Department Hokendaqua Station 38 for Engine 3831 and Squirt 3831 to 24 Saylor Drive in Coplay for a working dwelling fire. Chief 501 went responding and was advised of multiple calls reporting a working fire with all occupants out of the structure. Whitehall Chief 3501 went responding and requested Whitehall Station 39 (Egypt) be dispatched. This information was relayed to Chief 501 and a second alarm was dispatched bringing in Egypt Engine 3911, Whitehall's Cementon Station Rescue 4041, Cetronia EMS 62, Macungie EMS Rehab 6651 and Woodlawn Cascade 3292. Chief 3902 arrived on the scene shortly after and confirmed a working fire. Squirt 3831 arrived on the scene and stretched a line to the front door of the single family dwelling with fire showing. A supply line was handjacked to a nearby hydrant while an interior attack was initiated. Engine 511 arrived and stretched a line to the rear of the dwelling. Crews began making progress on the fire as multiple lines were stretched. Engine 511 established a secondary supply line. The homeowner reportedly tried to douse the flames prior to calling 911 allowing the fire to spread rapidly. The homeowner was assessed by EMS personnel and transported with second degree burns. The fire was brought under control within an hour with crews remaining on scene finding hot spots for multiple hours.

Schuylkill County - Mahanoy Twp. - MVA w/ injury - 11/28/2010 : SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, PA – At 13:33 hours on Sunday, November 28, Schuylkill County 911 dispatched units to Interstate 81 Southbound at mile marker 131 for a motor vehicle accident with multiple vehicles involved. The initial dispatch included Mahanoy City Engine 454 (Citizens), Rescue 993 (West End) and EMS along with Shenandoah ALS. Engine 454 went responded immediately upon dispatch and was advised that callers were reporting a vehicle crossed the median and was struck by several vehicles traveling in the opposite direction with up to five vehicles involved and unknown injuries. Ambulance 4803 and Medic 6404 went responding shortly after the engine. Engine 454 arrived on scene to find a three vehicle accident in the nature stated above. Command was established and Rescue 993 was cancelled as command reported negative entrapment. The engine crew provided hazard control. Squad 456 responded as well as Fire Police Unit 48-70 to assist with traffic control. Fire crews also assisted with patient care. Luckily, only one patient required transport to a local hospital with minor injuries. All units cleared the scene in less than thirty minutes.

Lehigh County - Lynn Twp. - MVA w/ rescue - 12/6/2010 : LEHIGH COUNTY, PA - At 21:47 hours on Monday, December 6, Lehigh County 911 dispatched Northwestern Rescue - Stations 10 (Germansville), 17 (New Tripoli) and 71 (Northwestern EMS) with North Whitehall Rescue - Utility 1651 (Neffs) and Rescue 2241 (Schnecksville) to State Route 309 and Lochland Road for a motor vehicle accident with rescue. New Tripoli Chief 1701 went responding immediately upon dispatch and was advised of a vehicle on its side with two people still inside and unknown extent of injuries. Northwestern 7183 went responding and was advised of updated information stating the accident would be a van on its side with two people confined. 1701 arrived on the scene and confirmed the confinement and established 309 Command. Tanker 1021 was the first unit on scene followed by Rescue 1741. Units were advised to set up lighting and then stabilize the vehicle. Engine 1712 arrived on the scene and pulled a booster line for fire suppression if needed. Rescue personnel removed the windshield to gain access to the patients while EMS assessed them. Due to the minor nature of injuries, the patients were able to walk out of the van once the windshield was removed. Rescue 2241 was recalled as it arrived on scene. Utility 1651 arrived on scene and helped crews pick up. Units remained on scene for another thirty minutes. Traffic control was provided by Utility 1051. Lehigh County - Washington Twp. - MVA w/ rescue and fatality - 12/9/2010 : At 07:26, Lehigh County dispatched Station 16 (Neffs) and 67 (NOVA EMS) with Rescue 2241 (Schnecksville) and Medic 75 (Northampton) to Route 873 and Oakwood Lane in Washington Township for a motor vehicle accident with rescue. Chief 2202 responded and was advised of a pick-up versus car, head-on. Chief 2202 arrived on the scene and established Route 873 command confirming entrapment of one patient. Ambulance 6791 arrived on the scene and requested a helicopter to fly for the entrapped patient. Command requested Station 9 (Friedens) be dispatched for the landing zone. Rescue 2241 arrived on the scene and began stabilization and extrication. Medic 7583 arrived on the scene and after assessment, determined the patient to be deceased. At this time extrication was put on hold and aeromedical was cancelled. Command requested fire police from Stations 12 (Laury's Station) and 26 (Tri-Clover) respond to help detour traffic during the morning rush hour. Crews remained on scene throughout the morning.

Lehigh County - Heidelberg Twp. - MVA - 12/13/2010 : Stations 10, 22, 17, 62 and 71 were dispatched to the area of Rt. 309 and Rt. 100 for a MVA with rescue. Additional reports were of a car vs pole with the pole on top of the vehicle and one person inside. I arrived as EMS was arriving (pre-FD) and found a car sheered off the pole. No one was in the vehicle and no serious injuries were apparent. Tanker 1021 arrived on the scene. 1001 took command and continued to have a heated argument with the paramedic from 71 over closing Rt. 309. I took some video but the volume was quite low. I returned to my vehicle to switch lenses. When I returned I snapped a photo and was approached by the chief. He went on to ask who I was with and I responded a freelance photographer. He then began screaming and throwing his arms stating no one is allowed to take photos in Germansville. I proceeded to ask why, I mean I was on a public roadway, wasn't obstructing the emergency services and (even though it isn't illegal) there was nothing that could be considered immoral. His only response was no one is allowed to take pictures in Germansville which he told me about five times. He then asked if there was a roll of film in my camera (in a manner that I assume he was going to ask for it). I chuckled and told him no. He asked what it was then and I said digital. He told me to destroy my pictures and threatened that I better not post any of them to the internet. Well here they are....
